  Avant garde is a French phrase meaning "advance guard" basically referring  to things that are Unique or innovative in nature. When we apply this phrase to makeup it often describes a makeup technique that is artsy  with an exotic twist ,this makeup style can often be seen  in High Fashion runway shows.
