Ethical Fashion
One reader reported that she lives in an area where there are no second-hand clothing and recycling shops. She also said that she did not have the money to buy more expensive, but ethically made clothes and that is why she continues to buy from fast fashion shops. Clothes from fast fashion companies are cheaper, but their quality is so bad that they spoil in a short run making you buy new clothes every season. This is a bigger waste! It is cheaper in the long run to buy more expensive but good quality clothes. Then you will have more clothes as they last longer and you will dress morally and stylishly. I certainly understand that in a country like the one I live in (Greece) there are not enough ethical fashion shops outside of the capital. Especially when you are a boy, like me, it is even harder to find such stores! But there are many famous companies whose production of clothes doesn't violate ethical rules!
Fast fashion is nothing more than a fast and random absorption of catwalk trends in your closet. This does not mean that you are in fashion or follow the trends, but that you have purchased a dubious quality item that can be worn in limited ways and does not follow fashion or style. Sustainable fashion organizations predict that consumer demand for fast fashion clothing will increase by 60% due to poor clothing quality and the false needs their ads create. The fashion industry, after all, is the world's second largest source of carbon dioxide after oil. Overall, it is estimated that the carbon sources will exceed 2.791 million tons. But besides, for me, ethical fashion doesn't just mean clothes production's conditions! It's also the ideology behind a campaign. Ethical fashion for me is also when fashion houses run campaigns to donate money to charities and environmental organizations.
