Chromophobia in Fashion

În urmă cu 110 luni

I love being a stylist on stardoll, it lets me explore all sorts of new styles that I wouldn't consider to be my own - and for the most part, it's fun!

Part of being a stylist means tailoring your work to your clients' needs - if they have requirements, you should meet them - whether it be budget, style, or color.

This gathered me a strange response. When I initially asked people to describe the colors they like within clothing I got a different response - what they don't like, which is of course helpful, but rather oddly I saw a trend in your preferences, it was almost always related to the color Pink.

Pink is a colour that divides people - you ever love it or you hate it.
I would theorize that it is almost as if there is a rule attached to pink that states that it can only be worn by barbie dolls and ballerinas, and is not a color that can be taken seriously unless you're aiming to look like a unicorn or a pretty princess - but this is not true.

There is a stigma attached to the color pink that needs to be broken. Pink does not neccesarily have to be feminine, childish, or girly. Pink can be worn by all ages, and all genders, and in terms of fashion it is as appropriate as any other color.

I'm not saying Pink is destined to be the new black, but it is not something you should fear - you can wear pink and still be edgy, stylish, hipster or however else you describe your look.

Don't be afraid of trying out a new color, whatever it may be! :)
