Boring Grown-Up Stuff: Adulting - Stardoll

You don't have to spend a lot of time on the Internet to find the term 'adulting'. It's a verb (action word) used to describe things that grown-ups have to do in their daily lives, like paying bills, making appointments, and generally being fully functional as a human being.

A lot of people (myself included!) have trouble sometimes when it comes to official grown-up life. When I was at the bank the other day, half the stuff the financial advisor was saying went right over my head. Reading over the terms of my new cell phone plan, I was completely bewildered.

So what do novice grown-ups do in the face of an adulting crisis like this? Well...

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Whether you're talking to a doctor or a tech support worker, they're there to help you. It's okay if you don't fully understand what's going on in every situation. Even if it seems like a silly question, like, "Where do I pay the bus fare?" it'll save you lots of trouble in the future.

Take the time to seek out answers from reliable sources. Google the terms of your contract that don't make sense. Confer with a fellow grown-up (maybe parents or older siblings) about what to do when it's tax season. Don't just accept the things that don't make sense...learn about them until they do make sense!
