Decades of Fashion -2

147 maanden geleden

1960's

Fashion became very experimental in the sixties with lots of different looks coming out. At the beginning of the sixties, Jacqueline Kennedy was the biggest style icon. She was famous for her elegant suits and shift dresses, but as the decade went on, fashion got a little bit more exciting! London fashion was divided between Mods - in their neat, modern outfits, often in black and white - and Rockers, who were inspired by the jeans, leather jackets and the greased back hair of the fifties.

1970's

By the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies, the hippy look was born. Everyone wore the same bell-bottomed jeans and loose tie-dyed tops. Soon, disco took over and sparkly, shimmery dresses were everywhere, often teamed with huge platform shoes. Hair and hemlines were a lot longer than they had been in the sixties. Another seventies signature look is punk, which had a huge influence on the modern skinny jeans that so many people wear today.

1980's

The eighties were all about solid colours and solid shapes. Lots of women wore shoulder pads in their dresses and suits and make-up was very, very bright. It wouldn't be strange to see people in blue and pink eye shadow with bright red lipstick! Dresses were either looses and flowing, but nipped in at the waist, or very tight.
