How to Pet a Cat?
Have you ever got burned by a small furry bundle of claws? If so, you're not alone! Today I'm going to address "How to pet a cat?!?!"
Cats may be the cutest thing out there, but they don't always act accordingly. As such, you probably know it's important to understand a little bit about them, and how to interact with them.
Cats normally expect specific types of affection. They aren't dogs, they won't go fetch, sit, stay, or kiss. They're independent, and they probably only want affection on THEIR terms.
So how should we act around cats?
1) Cats can get over-stimulated very easily. Often they don't like being pet on the stomach or even their back unless they initiate a behavior that says otherwise. Try to start out by offering your hand, and see if the cat will rub up against it. Pet their head first.
2) Watch their eyes and tail, those are key indicators for when a cat is over-stimulated. If they have dilated pupils or their tail is flicking back and forth, they could be getting ready to pounce.
3) Cats have a normal, daily routine. If you're disrupting them and that routine they could get frazzled. Don't chase them around, let them come to you.
4) Just have fun with your cats, and remember each and every cat is different and unique! Learn what they like, and enjoy those furry friends!
