90's Glam
As we are well into the festive season now, I thought it was only right to style some glam party looks! For all of my outfits I was inspired by the 90s, which is always a huge influence on my styling.
My first two outfits take inspiration from Clueless. This is a go-to movie for outfit inspiration, with Cher alone wearing 52 outfits! A staple item for achieving the look is a cute mini dress. Cher wore her fair share of minis, including her white Calvin Klein dress and also a classic red one ("you don't understand, this is an Alaïa!"). I chose a glittery silver slip dress with fur trim around the top. As the style throughout the film is very matchy-matchy, I styled the dress with marabou fur heels and a silver box bag. As the look is so sparkly, I added a white t-shirt underneath to tone it down slightly. The second outfit has a similar look, but instead of a dress I chose a two-piece. I then accessorized with a mini backpack and minimal heels. I added chokers to both looks, a 90s trend that has re-emerged and continues to grow in popularity.
My final outfits were inspired by Courtney Love, Kate Moss and Saint Laurent's Spring 2016 RTW collection. Even though this style is a little edgier, the slip dress was still popular, however this time worn in a dishevelled way with one strap falling down. Carrying on with the careless style, I layered a t-shirt underneath, a fur coat over one shoulder, and some battered boots. To complete the look, I added a tiara and a tiny glitter clutch. A baby pink or nude satin slip dress (short or maxi) would work just as well. My last look is a lot simpler, with a baby doll dress, strappy platforms and mini handbag. You could also add either a fur or slouchy leather jacket to this look.
