Patterns Galore!
When you're working with patterned clothes, there's a fine line between effortlessly cool and gaudily overdone. It's easy to go too far with patterns, or to not go far enough for fear of ruining it. Today, I tried mixing up some patterned clothes on my doll, breaking down my inhibitions and boundaries. Here's what I've come up with:
Look #1 was a slow ease-in to the world of patterns. I kept it simple with a monochrome stripes theme. From the bold stripes on the top and jacket to the single vertical stripe on the skirt, I feel like this outfit is mid-level classy. Looking back, I would have used darker heels, but other than that I'm pretty happy with how this easy look turned out.
Look #2 was also a bit conservative. I made an effort to use many different patterns, but using colors that worked well together. I think the softness of the blues and greys helps make this outfit a little easier to look at, even with stripes and designs and clashes everywhere.
Look #3 was all out. I threw caution to the winds and mixed patterns like crazy. A little plaid, a little floral, a little lace, even some subtle stripes in the hat. Who cared about colour co-ordination? So what if it's too much? I really enjoyed putting this look together, and if my real-life wardrobe was as extensive as my Stardoll wardrobe, this is something I would wear 110% of the time.
Which is your favourite look? How do you mix patterns?
Til next time!
