Writing Workshop 3

96 hónappal ezelőtt

Hi dollies!

Today's writing workshop is a fun and creative one: all you are going to do is write about an object!

In one of my previous lessons, my group was given the task to give each other an item of their's and write about it. My friend gave me one of her pink hair bows. Now, I know this sounds impossible to write about something plain and not really interesting, but it can be interesting if you follow these simple tips!

1) Note down the colours that you see

2) Write down the materials and the shape of your chosen object.

3) Go into a little more detail, are there any embellishments? Is there writing on it?

4) Go back to the colour and write about what associates with that colour. If it is red, it might represent danger; if it is blue, it might represent calmness.

5) Think about the texture of your item and does it link to your colour?

6) Continue brainstorming lots of ideas and details until you are ready to write.

7) Decide whether your piece will be a poem or a short story or a piece of prose.

8) Start writing and don't stop!

These steps really helped me to create an interesting story about a bow. I used the colour to represent passion and love. I thought about the two pieces on either side becoming one with the extra band of material, I thought about the sharp edges of the bow representing a change and chaos. I told a story of two people falling in love: all from a bow...

I hope these steps help you create some wondeful and unexpected stories!
