What's an Undertone?
Hi all! Today I wanted to write a post about finding your skin's undertone- this aids in finding your foundation shade and finding flattering colors.
So, what's an undertone? Basically, it's the colors that pick up in your skin. There are so many complexions, but most can usually be grouped in either warm, cool, or neutral.
Warm is the more golden, peachy, or yellow tones. Deep, rich shades are most flattering. Cool skin types lean pink, red or blue. Bright shades are most flattering. And if you're neutral, you fall somewhere in between. This means your skin has an even balance of both, and all colors are flattering.
How do I find my undertone? To find your undertone, take a look at the veins in your wrist. If they lean green, you most likely are warm. If they're blue, you are probably cool toned. And if it's a mix of both, you're neutral.
Here's an example of a cool- toned doll.
As you can see, this doll has a pinky skin tone, and lighter, ashy-toned hair. The eyes are a cool shade of blue, and peachy bright lips suit the overall coloring.
Here's a warm- toned doll.
This doll has a yellow, golden complexion. The eyes are a warm green, and her hair is a rich shade of brown. Deep reds and other similar tones are most flattering.
I hope this post proves to be helpful to you! Are you warm, cool, or neutral? Let me know in the comments!
