Own Your Guestbook
I have an open guestbook. I love to come to my page and find positive messages. Whether from a friend or someone I have not met yet, a friendly post always brightens my day.
However, there are some people who do not show good manners. When someone uses my guestbook for advertising, I find it disrespectful. It is as if someone came to my house and put a sign on my yard. If someone did that, I would remove the sign and throw it away.
I do something similar with my guestbook. I may or may not visit the sale if I have been invited to one. But if I find that there is nothing personal in the message, I will delete the post. This is an easy way to keep my guestbook free of spam.
Some scammers come directly to my page and post in my guestbook. I laugh when I see this. I can report them easily without having to go looking for them. But as soon as I am done reporting, I delete the post. I don't want anyone coming to my page seeing a link to a scam site.
Sometimes I see questionable posts in guestbooks when I visit other dolls. I wonder why they do not delete posts that are not nice or that break the rules.
It seems to me that everyone ought to take ownership of her own guestbook and make sure that what is posted is fit for everyone to see.
Take ownership of your own guestbook.
