A (Secret) Royal Wedding!
I know what you're thinking: "Oipy you're late to the party!"
Well, yes. I know, but I have a perfectly good excuse for that!
We are a house of 5 and in between keeping the house clean and organized, and being here on Stardoll or doing other stuff, some extra things get postponed. Better late than never!
Anyways, without further ado...
Oh good, sweet lord! Princess Beatrice is MARRIED! I'm so excited!!!! Can't you tell?
Princess Beatrice of York, the Queen's oldest granddaughter married her fiancée Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on the 17th of July, even though the cerimony was originally planned to be held on the 29th of May. It was rescheduled to the outbreak of covid-19, which has forced the whole world into a months-long confinement. And royals aren't immune to it.
The ceremony was submitted to changes due to the pandemic. There was going to be a reception at Buckingham Palace but it was canceled to avoid gathering a large number of people.
The wedding list also had to be shortened to only 20, to respect the new safety precautions, thus only the immediate family was invited, leaving out the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, or any other of the Queen's children and grandchildren.
It honestly could've been worse. It could have been postponed to 2021, making us royal watchers sad and impatient.
So far we didn't get any coverage of the inside of the event, we just got a few official pictures released. Again, better than nothing!
I initially thought we would get only a few glimpses of the wedding (just like we did) but that was way before the pandemic so this is a very good treat for us that haven't seen the royals and their jewels in action for many months, especially after I thought we would get no coverage of the wedding or that it would be postponed.
Now, to the bride! She was radiant and visibly happy. What a pretty bride! Not necessarily my favorite among royal brides, but she did a good job.
She wore a dress worn by her grandmother the Queen, made by Norman Hartnell and originally worn to the State Opening of Parliament in 1967. The dress had a few alterations to suit the bride's taste and the occasion, so sheer fabric was added to the sleeves, the puffy underskirt was removed and a silk rim was added at the bottom.
At fist I didn't like the dress because I felt it was too boho. But then I took a better look and noticed the crystals actually sort of match the tiara's design, that even though it's a straight fringe, it has a few vertical rows of lozenge diamonds, mimicking the ends of the crystal strings in her dress.
And speaking of the tiara..... WOW! A total surprise, I must say! I was definitely not expecting that! I was expecting her mother's wedding tiara (although I understand the reasons not to loan it to her daughters) or a new-to-us tiara just like Meghan and Princess Eugenie wore on their special days!
Princess Beatrice wore the Queen Mary's fringe tiara, one of my favorite British ones, that is currently in the Queen's possession.
It was originally made with diamonds from a dismantled tiara given by Queen Victoria to Mary as a wedding gift. It was made in 1919, in Kokoshnik style, the jewel has 47 diamond spiked bars and features round diamonds and lozenge diamond in alternating spikes.
Queen Mary was very fond of flexible jewelry so the tiara could be removed from its frame and worn as a necklace.
Later, when Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) became Queen consort, Mary gave her the tiara to wear, which she did quite often during King Gorge VI's reign.
The current Queen wore this tiara for her wedding day in 1947, when it famously broke a few moments before the actual ceremony! The tiara was fixed in rush, as the panic was instilled. The Mall was full of people, the guests were waiting on the church -- so stressful! Luckly it was fixed in time though!
Queen Elizabeth II inherited this tiara in 2002, when her mother died.
I'm so happy to have the opportunity to see this jewel upclose in high definition, as It's so rarely out of the vaults these days...
Anyway, what did you think of the bride and groom? let me know! ♥
