Royal Recap: Changes and new projects
This week is packed with news!
United Kingdom:
At the start of the week Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Natural History Museum which she has been the patron of since 2013, and viewed a science exhibition highlighting bio-diversity and promoting identification and research of the plants and animals that visitors and aspiring scientists can bring to the museum.
On the same day that evening, their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received Bill Gates and his wife Melinda at Kensington Palace for a private meeting to discuss the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Royal Foundation's sponsor, an organization created to keep the Duke and Duchess' charity work and other projects well-scheduled and managed in order to perform them in the best way possible.
On Thursday the 10th, Mental Health day, a popular meme came to life when Prince Harry met the singer Ed Sheeran and in a (very funny) video, they raised awareness for mental health, which has been a project both The Dukes and Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex have been working since Kate joined the Royal family. Over on Kensington Palace's official IG account, (@KensingtonRoyal) a help line number is shared because the two royal couples believe sometimes it is easier to text your emotions rather than talking about them. What an wise move. For me this has been the highlight of the week, as I identify with their cause. Addicionally, they also joined for an ad for Public Health England, with the slogan Every Mind Matters to encourage people suffering mentally to talk about it.
Denmark:
The Danish Royal Family has announced that the children of Crown Prince Frederik and CP. Mary are going to study in Lemania-Verbier International School, in Switzerland for 12 weeks. What came as a shock to me is that HRH Princess Mary is going to move out of Denmark with them to supervise her children. I guess we'll not seeing her at future royal engagements, then. But it is great that she wants to be close to her children's education and support them whenever they need. They will eventually go back to Denmark as soon as the semester finishes.
Luxembourg: On Tuesday, the 8th, The Grand Ducal Court announced that HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa would undergo a knee surgery. As off the moment of this writing, Her Highness has reported to have had a successful surgery and all is well.
Sweden: King Carl Gustaf XVI and Queen Silvia have announced to have removed the royal titles of their grand children, except their RH Princess Estele and Oscar, who are direct heirs to the throne of Sweden, children of Crown Princess Victoria and CP Daniel. This change was positive, which prompted Princess Madeleine and Prince Carl Philip to thank them via their official instagram accounts, as this means their children will have normal lives and will be able to pursue any careers they want in the future, without enjoying royal funds.
Coming up in Spain: On the 18th, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Leonor will undertake her 3rd official engagement as Princess of Asturias (a title given to Spanish heirs), the young Princess, accompanied by her sister Sofia and her parents the King and Queen of Spain, will present the Princess of Asturias Award, a ceremony conducted by the Princess of Asturias Foundation to award people from all over the world for their notability in the science, humnitarian and public life fields.
