Under the Weather

hace 94 meses

As I'm writing this I'm lying on the couch with a hot cup of honey lemon tea. Doesn't sound so bad, does it? Guess again - I've caught a cold and it's not fun. Sore throat, stuffy nose, achiness, it's all there. Winter is a common time to get sick and it's hard to avoid coming down with something at least once this season. If you're feeling under the weather like me, try some of these tips to help yourself get better faster.

Listen to your body. When you're sick, you can't do all the things you normally can. Walking in the snow, doing lots of exercise, or hanging out at a party might not be good ideas when you're not feeling great. Your body will tell your brain when something's up, whether it's a food that doesn't co-operate with your illness, or too much stimulation giving you a headache. Take a cue from your brain and take it easy.

Sleep is your best friend, so don't ignore it. I slept eleven hours the other night, and it helped a lot. Naps throughout the day can be beneficial, too, even when you don't necessarily feel tired. Your body is working hard to fight whatever's bugging you, and sleeping gives you a chance to boost your energy and beat those bad bacteria.

Being sick can make you feel really lousy, so make yourself comfortable. Pile on the blankets, put on your favourite movie and stay hydrated with your favourite juice. Less is more when you're sick - so be lazy and you'll get a lot more done than you think!

That being said, I should probably log off and help myself out by taking a nap.

What do you do when you're under the weather?

Til next time!
