Writing Workshop 5
Hi dollies!
Today's post is about writing very short stories. Now, everyone thinks that really good and interesting stories are all hundreds of pages long. However, that is not true, you can make a really gripping and interesting story with only a few sentences; or even six words can be enough!
These very short stories were made particularly famous by Earnest Hemingway, he created a six word story that was so powerful and interesting, you wouldn't believe it! Here it is:
'For sale: baby shoes, never worn.'
I love this story, however I always feel very sad and it really makes me think. This story connotes how there were baby shoes that haven't been worn. Has the baby died? What has actually happened? All these questions and more instantly make you think about a suggested story.
Why not try your own six word story? Here is my set of six word stories that are inspired by festivals:
Jesus was born on this day. (Christmas)
A well lit street to home. (Diwali)
Fast all day, eat all night. (Ramadan)
Celebrate the dead with the Mexicans! (Mexican day of the dead)
