Fashion house: Céline
Hey dolls,
While reading Vogue online today I read a story about Céline’s new artistic director, Heidi Slimane. After conversing with some friends and family I realised that not a lot of people know about Céline and what they do...
Firstly, Heidi Slimane. Slimane has held previous high importance jobs at brands like Saint Laurent and Dior! (BTW: how good was the Dior tribute this season!) Heidi’s first collection will debut at Paris fashion week this September and I’m sure it will live up to expectations and high standard of Slimane’s past collections with other brands.
Céline, founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana is a French fashion house that is most notorious for the Céline luggage tote which was first debuted in 2010 is now one of the most recognised silhouettes even today, 8 years later. These bags can cost anywhere from £1,000 - £8,000 but you have a lot of customisable options on the Céline website to truly make your bag special.
The brand, now worth £172,2 million, is owned by LVMH. LMVH is a multinational luxury chain, which also owns brands like Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, DKNY, and even Sephora! The group is now worth 37.6 billion as of 2016 and I’m sure it will grow with the new artistic director Heidi.
Dolls, I certainly enjoyed learning about Céline as I didn’t know much myself! What did you think? Would you like more in-depth looks at high fashion brands? Comment below wich ones you’d like to see! -Nat x
