When JRR Tolkien created Middle-earth for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the story of The Hobbit, he created a world beyond anyone's imagination...until now! Back in December 2012, to coincide with the release of the new Peter Jackson film The Hobbit, we asked a select group of Stardoll members to come up with their interpretations of Middle-earth. Because the Middle-earth you see in The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings films are in New Zealand, only New Zealand Dollies got to enter! We looked through hundreds of entries and although it was very difficult, we narrowed it down to 15 creative and thoughtful new imaginings of Middle-earth. Here is the first post of three with our contest winners for My Middle-earth!

"Somewhere beyond our land lies a magical world, a land of mythical creatures.
The dense forest which covers half of this land is the home of tree-dwelling fairies, nymphs and exotic animals. In the white strip of sand on the border lie many treasures, mostly ancient items washed up on the shore. Mermaids frolic in the shallows while in the colder part of the water is the den of the mighty sea monster, but he’s a friend of all mermaids. This half is bright and lively.
On the other half of the land lives the more harmful creatures. The large volcano in the centre of this island is also a very popular meeting place for the evil trolls. Every mountain is a giant in disguise, as the giants move, so would the ‘mountains’, which would be very misleading if one was lost in this mystical land. The edge of this island is also holds the Minotaur’s labyrinth. This half of the land is dark and gloomy with bare trees and boulders.
This land, colourful or dangerous, will never cease to amaze me."

"In my middle earth, there would be really gorgous fairies who would help you if you needed help, they would be your best friend and listen to your stories, Also the trees would whisper little secrets to you as you walked past.The ruler of my middle earth would be my Mum because she will be forever young and she is the sweetest and coolest person in the world. There would be no one evil unless you decided to bully someone . The sweet scented flowers would taste like chocolate and if you walked through the forest the soft moist ground would light up with each step. In my middle earth world you could be whoever you wanted without judgement.If you believed in something different to others then that would appeer. Anything you wanted it would be like magic."

"The land of CandyKane will have the lollipop creatures who live in swirlywhirly land, and the mallowmarshes where jellysnakes live. There is also mintmountain where candycanes and gingerbread men work together to make gingerbread houses in christmas time for Santa, who takes travels there often. There is also the magical chocolate frogs, who live in a village in darkness, so they don't melt and watch harry potter films all the time. Around the mintmountains are icecream falls where the baby sprinkles swim around in. There are different types of sprinkles-the rainbow sprinkles, cocoa sprinkles and the rare silver bead sprinkles. There is a big problem affecting CandyKane where gigantic creatures, called humans kidnap the creatures who inhabit CandyKane. The kidnapped creatures never seem to return again."

"My middle earth will be amazingly magically and exciting! It would have elves, Unicorns, wizards, dragons, and well MAGIC! It would be the only place where you could be yourself and not have be someone you're not for anyone. The one place where you can be all nerdy with your friends and not be judged by anyone at school or at home! Where you can just chill and play Games and beat up evil wizards or trolls and have a unicorn, a dragon or even a talking dog? what ever you want it will be there, just think about it and it will pop up right in front of you :) but Only good people can be in this secret world I call budding nations. All so called nerds/geeks/uncool people are allowed in and if anyone who tried to bully people wont be allowed in because in my world you don't exist!"

"My middle Earth is a place called Straitforent. It is a beautiful place ruled by Princess Arcadia and her daughter Sadia. Their subjects are all peaceful. There are three types of creatures that live in Straitforent. The Guardians who are the protectors of Straitforent. They are tall and have big broad shoulders. They are very protective but are very sweet when they know you are no harm to them or the ones they protect. Then there are the Zealandiers, the creative little cuties of the land. Now creatures that live in similar conditions are viewed as goblins and elves: unsightly creatures, but the Zealandiers are the sweetest creatures very small no higher than an average person's knees with the longest eyelashes you have ever seen. The females are pink purple or aqua. They are the cutest little things. The males are green. Then there are the Nonians. They are very resourceful the brains and brawn of Straitforent. All in all Straitforent is a peaceful place."
