“The inspiration was Keira Knightley in The Duchess,” says makeup artist Pat McGrath of the beauty look at Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2009 show. While hair was swept into a bouffant reminiscent of the Duchess of Devonshire’s eighteenth century do, faces appeared au naturel yet elegant.
“De la Renta wanted a very beautiful face,” says McGrath, who paired smoldering brown eyes with a glossy nude lip. To further complement the shiny textures and jewel-toned fabrics in De la Renta’s collection, McGrath added shimmer to complexions by dabbing Benefit High Beam and Make Up For Ever Star Powder #943 along the brow, inner-eye corners, cheekbones, nose, and Cupid’s bow. Cheeks were accentuated with CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry and Kevyn Aucoin the Sculpting Powder.
