Royal Recap: A month full of royals!

61个月之前

Oh Wow! This past month was filled with royalty news! But I was campagining for MSW (and still am) and I couldn't write weekly, but I'm writing this finally in the semi-finalist break.

So here are the highlights of the past weeks:

United Kingdom:  On the 14th of October, like previously stated, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Pakistan for a 4 day state visit. Their Hignesses were welcomed by Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, and his wife. This visit was planned to strenghten the bond between Pakistan and the UK, discuss environmental causes and women education and future planning. The Duchess, known for her beautiful style, as always, has opted to wear Pakistani designers during the whole tour, a gesture she always does when on tours abroad. She has worn various Salwar Kameez and traditional regional clothing during the tour, and also a hijab headscarf and barefoot when visiting the Badshahi Mosque. The royal couple also visited the glaciers to discuss the environment and ways to help it. My favorite part of the tour was when they visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and the Duchess played with a girl with cancer, both wearing a plastic tiara and having pretend tea. How lovely, aaaw!

The Sussex royal couple released a documentary where Meghan revealed how life has been very stressful and difficult for her since joining the royal family because she, somehow in a countinously-evolving world in 2019, still suffers from bullying from the tabloids who constantly arass her and want to make her lie appear as a drama in order to sell it to people. This is seriously heartbreaking. People keep reading these awful fake news stories about her and I've seen various comments online of people criticizing her... People things such as that she caused the rift between Prince Harry and William, to also saying she makes the Queen angry, and the most recent one, that she fled the country with Archie after a fight. This has unfortunately, passed the level of humanity and is just plain sick. I'm with the royal couple. I support their decision to sue the tabloids. Hopefully they will stop, because no one deserves their life completely scrutinized just because they are a public figure. What people are doing to her is shameful.

Now traveling to Asia, more specifically Japan, the world has witnessed the official enthronement of the new Emperor of Japan, Naruhito and wis wife the Empress Masako. For this historic event, many royasl of the world were invited. Among them were the King and Queen of Spain, the King and Queen of the Netherlands, The King and Queen of Belgium, The King of Sweden and Crown Princess Victoria, the Danish Crown Princely couple, Mary and Frederik and Prince Charles of the United Kingdom. They witnessed a centuries old ceremony in floor lenght dress, hats and orders, as the protocol demands, and at night, in an official banquet, the Ladies came to shine.

My favorite of the night was definitely Queen Letizia of Spain, wearing a pink gown with white lace flower details and wore historical jewels with it, such as the collet diamond necklace and the tiara known as "La Buena" (the good one) who belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenia, the Spanish queen consort, wife of Alfonso XIII, the last king before monarchy was temporarly abolished in Spain. The earrings were also hers, and are, with the tiara and bracelets, part of the Joias de pasar, which are the designated jewels intended to be worn only by queens. The tiara is one of my absolute favorites, which is rare for me since I usually stay away from giant tiaras like that. Everyone else was lovely and glittering as usual, but Letizia was the literal Queen of the night. I also loved the jewelry picks of Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, she usually is a pro in this. I must say I definitely loved her daywear, but thr same couldn't be said for the night part. I mean, I don't dislike it, it's just not as good as the daywear. But the jewels compensated for that. She wore the Dutch rubies. The worst of the night I'd have to say, was Princess Victoria. That dress was very dull in color, since she wore a Japanese Order the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum, she could've had played it its colorful background and wore a better dress, like she did for the daywear. This dress' pattern is ugly and completely threw me off. What are YOUR favorites of the two events? let me know!
