Communication Skills

114个月之前

Hi dolls.

So I just started my internship in London and I'll be there for the next six weeks. It might only be an internship, but it's still a step into the world of journalism.

I've learned so much already over the last few days. Mainly in terms of communication. On the first day we had to do a group task and one of us was selected as the leader. In this instance it was me. At first I was terrified, but I've come to really enjoy it.

At some point, whether it be in school, college or in your own job. There may come a time when you need to step up and lead a group. It might seem quite daunting, but following these tips could really help you.

Being Approachable. When leading a group of people, you need to make sure you're not overbearing. Yes, you will need to make tough decisions or decide what you're team will do, but make sure that others do not feel afraid to speak up.

Being Mature. Sounds obvious right? In the past though on school projects, I've been with other team leaders who have been very immature and have just thought of themselves as the boss and have been very abrupt when it comes to discussing other people's opinions.

Being Responsible. If you are ever in a situation where you're leading a group of people always make sure to take responsibility. If something goes wrong, you need to step up and take ownership. Whilst doing things like this before I've seen a team leader put the blame onto someone else in the group, instead of owning up to their own mistake.

Well dolls, these are my tips and I hope they help you. If any of you have any tips for me that would be great, as we are doing this team building exercise for two weeks before we are separated.

Hope you enjoy this post.
