Tips for Falling Asleep

A common problem many people have is trouble falling asleep at night. Your tossing and turning, or your mind won't turn off, or you don't feel sleepy... it could be anything. Today, I want to share some advice on how to fall asleep!

1) Drink decaf tea before bed. Some teas are even made to help you sleep better at night! It will calm you down and make you sleepy. 

2) Eat a banana. This may sound strange, but they contain melatonin, a hormone which will help you sleep.

3) Do yoga or meditation before bed. This will relax you, and slow your heart (In a healthy way of course!) and is usually my go-to activity for a good sleep.

4) Read a book before bed. I know some people can't really get into reading, but if you can, try reading before bed. It always makes me sleepy!

5) Fall asleep listening to music. Only listen to calm or slow songs though, as fast, dance party songs will do the complete opposite of making you sleepy.

Tips

-Turn off all the lights, and close your door. Silence (besides music) and darkness will help you sleep. 

-Turn off all electronics one hour before bed. You need the down-time. 

-Besides bananas, tea, warm milk or other foods that promote sleep, do not eat before bed. They can cause night terrors such as bad dreams.
