This week's collection simply makes elegance your sole reason for being -- as epitomized by Dovima in Christian Dior - who can resist a muse like that -- not us. This season we are whipping up fifties-ish pieces: belted sheaths, three-quarter-sleeve blouses, pencil skirts, swingy knee-length coats and softly draping floor-length evening dresses. This contemporary take on the New Look's touch has re-made the retro shapes into a look both light and modern.

This collection brings some edge to an otherwise supersoft velvet touch - with a timely, well-judged reading of what fall's fashion concious want in their repertoire. Draped silk velvet is back on the agenda, injected with more than a fair bit of showmanship, full-legged and fluid, with strong shoulders and contrasting tones -- this is a new language for velvet spoken softly, but with impeccable grammar. Stardolls are fluent in it.

Welcome to the grunge-inspired looks we here at Stardoll first saw on the Fall 2010 runways at Alexander Wang in New York, and then again in Milan at Bottega Veneta.
The look takes us back to that special tomboyish, Seattle look from the early 90s that has even influenced red carpet looks on stars like like Taylor Swift and Lea Michelle - halfway Hollywood pretty, somewhat street slick.
